What is Littlespoon? If you’ve been seeing it on Instagram, social media sites – it’s the newest “trendy” kids meal subscription service. I know, I know. Sounds expensive, right? I had an offer to try out Littlespoon thanks to a cashback offer on my American Express Platinum – if you’re interested in trying it for your family and want $20 off: https://www.littlespoon.com?coupon=FR1SK9CF152O
My honest thoughts
We’d happily reorder – but only for convenience sake (and maybe the smoothies). As someone who works more than one job and has a jam packed schedule, these were a godsend when I needed to quickly get something together that was healthy for my son. We would only use this service to fill the gaps (like lunches when I’m working from home, or when my son goes to stay with family during the day). My son absolutely LOVED the smoothies – there was such great variety and I can’t think of one that he didn’t like!
Pros
- Quick, easy, & super convenient. Just take it out of the fridge (smoothie packs) or quickly microwave it.
- Smoothie packs were an absolute hit – they have unique flavors and my son LOVED the variety.
- Healthy & nutritious meals with organic and non-GMO ingredients. The meals are well balanced, adventurous, and filled with veggies!
- Meals grow with your child. They have options for infants all the way up to 10 year olds. That was our biggest issue with Cerebelly & other baby meal subscription services – our kid aged out of those.
- Meals stay fresh for 2 weeks in the fridge – or you can just throw it in the freezer.
- Recyclable packaging & less waste (the portions were manageable and we very rarely had leftovers)
- Easy to pause, skip, or cancel shipments.
Cons
- Expensive if you aren’t already used to paying for a meal subscription service. Items range from $3-$6, although this may be on par with some baby foods you are already buying in store. It’s definitely pricier than if you’re just feeding your kiddo whatever the rest of the family is already eating.
- Doesn’t ship to Alaska or Hawaii
- Foods must be refrigerated – this is a problem if you’re consistently on the go
- Shipping isn’t free – it’s a flat rate ($9) for all orders
