I was doing some browsing on Target.com (looking for new shoes for work – I’m in need of a good Gucci loafer dupe) and came across a lot of “designer inspired” pieces. While there were way more than 8, here’s the 8 I purchased (and my review of each of them).
1. Destination Slide Sandals
The destination sets go straight for the Christian Dior vibes – these instantly reminded me of Dior’s slide sandals that I tend to see everywhere during the summer months.
Price: $24.99
Did I keep it: YES. These were so cute – I kept them in both the black and cream/white color way. Comfy, stylish, and affordable.
2. Destination Tote Handbag
They match the sandals and go straight after Christian Dior’s book tote style. Need I say more? I’ll admit – when I got these, they were smaller than I expected. However, they seem well made, have a zip top closure, and have more than enough room for what I need for my next pool day.
Price: $30.00
Did I keep it: YES. Matching set with the sandals, zip top closure, and felt really sturdy for my next pool and beach day.
3. Sandy Mule Flats
I’ve been on the hunt for some new shoes for work, so picked up this classic twist on the traditional loafer. These really reminded me of Gucci’s loafers (traditional loafer is below) and sport the typical horse-bit design.
Price: $29.99
Did I keep it: NO. I had such high hopes for these, but they fit weird. They were way too wide (and I have flat feet) and looked really awkward on.
4. Janie Ballet Flats
Okay this one might be a bit of a stretch on the designer inspiration front – but I have seen a pair of Chanel’s ballet flats in the same style and color way. Can’t go wrong with a good pair of ballet flats right?
Price: $22.99
Did I keep it: YES. Classic, wardrobe staple. They feel like they ran slightly too big – so maybe size down, but they go with almost every outfit in my work wardrobe.
5. Nina Slide Sandals
These instantly took my mind to those Hermes sandals that seem to flood my Instagram feed in the summer. You know which ones I’m talking about – the Oran sandals. Except these are a tiny fraction of the price.
Price: $20.00
Did I keep it: YES. Comfy, stylish, fit great – and I’ve since dressed them up and down for both relaxed pool days and in nicer outfits with cute jeans and a blouse.
6. Laurel Loafer Flats
My favorite pair of loafers for work are about to bite the dust (RIP to my Sam Edelman’s), so I was looking for a cheap alternative. I came across these loafers from Target – they reminded me so much of Gucci’s loafers that they are so well known for.
Price: $32.99
Did I keep them: No. I was so disappointed. These were so uncomfortable. The entire back heel was made of rough material, and the seam in the back had really rough edges. Just a few steps and I could tell I’d end up with a blister.
So. Sad. Still on the hunt for my next pair of loafers if anyone has any recommendations!
7. Crocodile Print Mini Top Handle Crossbody
Alright alright. So this might be a stretch, but the website photo remind me of the Hermes mini Kelley. That being said, in person it didn’t remind me of it.
Price: $35.00
Did I keep it: YES, surprisingly. While it was smaller than I anticipated, it actually holds a lot. Phone, lipstick, keys, wallet, and a few extra. It has 3 compartments and a satisfying front closure. I doubt it’ll hold up for a very long time, but it is a stylish little bag for a good price.
8. Sophie Crossbody Bag
If this doesn’t scream Bottega Venetta… well I don’t know what will. This little padded crossbody comes in multiple colors – I did see a cute denim one in store. Because, denim is coming back in style this year.
Price: $30.00
Did I keep it: NO. Was it cute? Absolutely. Functional? Not really. Sturdy? No. I loved the design of this, but it was really small and felt like I’d easily scratch every surface of this bag. It just felt too soft if that makes sense.
If you made it this far – thanks for reading through my designer inspired Target haul!
