Over the past year, I’ve really become a fan of Dior’s beauty products. My favorite has been their mascara – it holds a curl like no other for my lashes – and I’ve tried a lot of their other makeup products. This time, I’m branching out and exploring their home products.
Luxury candles are sort of a new territory for me – my fanciest candles that I’ve ever owned are Hawaiian inspired from a brand called Malie Organics (I’ll post a review and unboxing of my next order from them, they’re still my favorite!). I’m at the point in my life where these small touches really make a difference – and these luxury candles are a far cry from my days working at Bath and Body Works in college!
What’s in the discovery set?
The set comes in very sophisticated packaging that honestly, I expect from Dior at this point. Each candle is 3 oz, and is rated at 18 hours of burn time. The box includes 3 scents:
- Ambre Nuit scented candle interprets the trail of the namesake fragrance of La Collection Privée Christian Dior, between the sensuality of rose notes and the strength of amber notes.
- Eden-Roc scented candle diffuses a woody and floral trail with marine aromas and aromatic accords that evoke the easy-going way of life that reigns over this little Mediterranean slice of heaven.
- Thé Osmanthus scented candle revives the beauty of the ancestral tea ceremony ritual by exalting the notes of this rare flower paired with gourmet apricot emanations.
My honest review
Before I break down the pros and cons… let me start by saying I WOULD buy a Dior candle again, for both myself and most definitely as a gift! Would I buy all these scents again? Well… no, but we all have our favorites don’t we?
Pros:
- Unique, sophisticated packaging & make an amazing gift. I will continue to order this as gifts, again and again!
- Eden-Roc is the most luxurious, relaxing, seaside scent! This was my favorite candle, by far, with Ambre Nuit a close second.
- The candles burned cleanly, without minimal mess or black soot that you sometimes get.
Cons:
- These candles are SMALL for the price – 3 oz, and fit in the palm of my hand!
- If you want the big version of any of these, be prepared to spend hundreds of dollars.
- Thé Osmanthus candle wasn’t my favorite – while it wasn’t bad, my nose found it a little confusing. Maybe it’s just my preference though, as I gravitate towards more woody scents.
- While the candles have decent throw (and aren’t obnoxiously overpowering) you do need to burn them for 2-3 hours to get any a true scented “room ambiance” you’d expect.
Are there any luxury candles that I need to try? I’ve heard about Diptyque and tried it in a Ritz-Carlton, and my friends haven’t really loved Nest – but I’d love to find a go to candle that smells amazing, but isn’t obnoxiously strong if that makes any sense.

Let me know in the comments if you have any recommendations for me! I’m quite happy with the Eden-Roc in this set though!
